Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card
Summary: Ender Wiggin was a mere child, and a "Third" (a breeded child whose genes were combined from two older siblings).  He loves his sister Valentine, but hates his destructive brother Peter.  After being chosen to go to the military training camp to fight in war against the bugger enemies, Ender discovers fierce competition which drives him to the point of pure hatred, as well as desperate lonliness without his sister.  He befriends some which he will later lose.  He plays a computer game which abstractly resembles his own life, desires, and surroundings.  These are just some of the events which happened to him at space camp, but... aliens have attacked Earth twice and almost destroyed the human species. To make sure humans win the next encounter, the world government has taken to breeding military geniuses -- and then training them in the arts of war. The early training, not surprisingly, takes the form of 'games'... Ender  is a genius among geniuses; he wins all the games... He is smart enough to know that time is running out. But is he smart enough to save the planet?
My Comments:  Suprisingly, I really liked this book.  It was assigned to me for reading in 9th grade.  I thought it would be dumb, so I didn't read it.  A few months later I decided to pick it up, and I loved it.  It took me a few days to read because it was hard to absorb so much material at once.  This book was very sad, but triumphant.  This is the first book in the science-fiction series and I haven't read any of the others yet, but i plan to.  This book would most likely be enjoyed by teenage males, but I liked it and I'm a girl.  This is a great book.
