here are some links for you:

the fall: the best we've seen the fall was probably at the festival hall supporting (or co-headlining with) the magic band. nothing beats the spontaneous actions of mark e smith on stage: be it drink, drugs or whatever, may it long continue. i guess it's the self-destruction, or just general stupid foolishness, of rock and roll that is it's biggest charm really. if only the likes of coldplay would stagger on stage, turn off their bass payer's amps mid-song just to annoy them, and then need help getting  off stage again.

lords: recently we were etremely taken by a band we saw a while ago - they are called lords and are pretty beefheart inspired, if we're not terribly mistaken - the drummer is great in a kinda john french style anyway. they have no bass player, just two very loud guitar players and a very loud drum player.

the magic band: yeah, so they reformed, and yeah okay so it wasn't quite the same without the captian at the helm, but still, i for one am grateful to see 'em play finally - instrumental beefheart is quite an interesting musical treat live i must say.

the silver rocket club: best live music night i've been to in london recently : post-rock, lo-fi, indie, call it what you want : first friday of every month upstairs at the garage opposite highbury and islington tube.

the world of spectrum: hey, i owned a spectrum in the early eighties and enjoy revelling in the nostalga of manic miner and the like. so what!
