| Frank Stark Ride by Sergio Agramonte |
| The Frank Stark is a ride sponsored by Boca Raton bicycle club held on July 8th. There are four diferent distances available 19, 29, 65 and 100 miles, I obted for the 29 mile ride. The organization was superb, there was plenty to eat and drink at the rest stops and a good lunch at the end. Sorry to say I only saw 14 recumbents out of 1000 riders, we still have a long way to go. I had one of my best rides so far on my bike e. I averaged 15 mph, for me that is fast. At the begining of the ride we had a recumbent train going, a Rans Wave with 16" wheel in front, a suspended Burly and my Bike E this was not planned it just happened and was a lot of fun. At the start-finish area there were massages available for the riders finishing their rides. International Bikes had a booth showcasing Trek bikes like the one Amstrong rides and they were giving away free water bottles. I can't wait for next year to do it again. Next I am planing to do the Broward Wheelers Metric Century Ride this October. If you live in the area and want to train together for it emal me at [email protected]. I live in Pompano and ride to Miami on weekends as part of my training. I average 12 miles per hour by my self, maybe riding as a group by drafting off one another we can all increase our speed. |
