Legend
NCh. Legend:1989 Shagya Arabian stallion. Speckled Grey. 15.1hh
Sire:Bailey Dam:QT Cross-Country Jumper &
Halter
Retired from:Stadium jumping and English Pleasure
Legend has become quite the rage in Shagya Breeding. His lines being above average, his disposition being nothing but friendly, and his confirmation being near perfection makes him the perfect stud for any Shagya mare.
Every morning he's the first to greet you. A nicker from the stall shows that he's wide awake and awaiting. He puts his all into everything he does. During training, you'll find Legend working up a sweat trying to perform the best of his abilities. He actually only goes out onto the cross-country course 3 days a week. We worry about over working his legs so the rest of the time is spent on lateral work. Making sure he listens to commands, working on bending, building muscles, etc.
Our trainer, Adriene ([email protected]), says that "He's a pleasure to work with. Will do anything you ask, or at least try. Best part is, he's even friendly when you're on the ground."
In truth, no horse is perfect. Like many Arabians, Legend has a spooky side to him. A previous home gave him a bad scare in tall grass, so Legend refuses to go anywhere near tall grass. Sometimes he sees things that aren't there, but like a good horse, he waits and looks, rather then spooks. He's typically very upbeat and naturally wary.
Traits found in Legend's foals vary. Many have long legs and finely chisled heads. Most take on his disposition, but a few learn habits from their mothers.
SET TRAITS:it has been proven that Legend carries a gene that causes all male foals to be speckled greys, and all females to be albino. No females have been found blind.
You can recognize Legend foal's by their name. "Legend's Estrella, Legend's Heart, Majestic Legend" are just a few. See the pattern?
