Hey everyone:

I have this Rodeo Style Cowboy Hat that I thought would make a great subject for a NURBS based model.  So I did it (almost.)  I'm having a problem figuring out how to put the final two pieces of the hat together.  Here's what I did:

1.  Created bottom part of hat with NURBS closed splines (oblong circles) by attaching several of them together and creating a ULoft Surface.

2.  Manipulated the points to come up with the shape.

3.  Created the top (crown) of the hat with a NURBS surface (a square patch with 10x10 points).

4.  Manipulated the points so that the crown had the basic shape of the top most circle of the bottom piece. (I.E., turned the square into a circle.)

Okay.  So, I have two different types of NURBS surfaces now.  How can I attach them so that they work together?  I've tried just plain old "attach" and "blend surface", but that doesn't work quite right, as the top (crown) is not a ULoft surface like the bottom.  Any suggestions?

I am using Max 3.0 on a Pentium II/400 with 256 Megs of RAM, running Windows 2k.

Thanks guys!
