IMHO you can model anything you can imagine, even in Max2.5, It's not the program that is limiting, its the confidence in the application of the tools. True, some modelling techniques have real limitations in Max but there are always options. And Bob, I have to say that I don't think you will ever be happy with the results from FFD's. Look into surface tools, patches, NURBS, maybe even a metapete plugin or pseudoNURBS (the last 2 being meshsmooth type plugins).
