there is a thing called movetools from lambsoft, which I hear very good things about, I had a play with version one a couple of years ago, it showd promise then , but the other day, a mate bought v1.7  and he is raving about it, says that it transfers animation, and takes the models across very well indeed. might be worth a look.

Subject: Porting models between MAX R3 and MAYA

Has anyone had to port models between MAX R3 and MAYA?  If so, what file format did you use? How successful was it and what did you lose (if anything)?  Are there any good resources for information on doing this?  I'm not concerned with losing animation so much as UV mapping and texturing specifics.

My apologies if this has been covered before!

Thanks,

Lisa
