Shahnawaz,

First of all - PLEASE don't send messages to the list with wierd background and font colors. I think it is kind of inappropriate, and its annoying, and you may not get as many responses if you do so. I actually had to take a little time and figure out how to remove of the strange colors just now!

    Now, on to your question...

Hey all, I've never taken printed outputs of my work, just Beta and VHS outputs, so I'm not to familiar with this. So here's my question. I need to take a laser printout, say at 1200 dpi resolution. - I heard that max only renders at 72 dpi so how do I go about this.
The output has to be of an A4 paper ( 210 X 297 mm). So what resolution do I render it at, for
a) 1200 dpi output on A4 paper
b) 600 dpi output on A4 paper
c) 300 dpi output on A4 paper

First of all, you need to be consistent with how you relate to this stuff. Above you mentioned a paper size in "mm", and yet when you refer to DPI you are actually referring to Inches! Here in the US not all of us know how to convert between the 2, so that will be up to you to do. Also, you asked for the exact resolutions. That will also be up to you to calculate. Essentially, here is the rules.

YEah, Max will render at 72dpi, you just need to bring your image into Photoshop and change the DPI yourself. If you want a print that is so many inches across the top, mutliply those inches times the DPI you want, like say 10 inches x 600 DPI. That will give you an X-resolution for your image of 6000 pixels. So, that is what you need to render out. Its as simple as that - nothing more complicated...
