What kinda system/hardware requirements are we looking at here? I'm curious to know if there is anyone out there who has built their own render farm? Say something like stacking motherboards with Pentiums or even better a whole pile of 486's together and let her rip. I keep envisioning serial linking through some peer to peer thing motherboards together in one box through the appropriate power supply or supplies. It's got to be way cheaper to build than these multi thousand dollar render farms I see advertised, and building a driver (if it doesn't already exist especially over linux) can't be that hard. I've got all these old cpus laying around here and it drives me crazy to not use them. Heh heh.
