Date: Monday, April 10, 2000 8:08 AM A good graphics card will speed up your realtime stuff, as in shaded viewports, and I've been hearing a lot of really good things about the GeForce cards on the newsgroups... it works out of the box, but not as well as it can, you have to get the registry tweaks... A new processor will just about double your rendering times, but it doesn't really affect anything else (as far as Max goes) except perhaps the redraw.... More memory will help your rendering times --IF-- you're out of memory now (which you can tell by when you render, your hard drives sounds like it's screaming or grinding in pain) otherwise, as long as you have at least 128mb, you should be okay. If you're dealing with hipoly scenes or lots and lots of textures or raytracing or lots of lights, you'll want to double that, probably. -Greg -----Original Message----- From: Antony Ward [mailto:award@uk.infogrames.com] Sent: Monday, April 10, 2000 8:05 AM To: 3D Studio Max Mailing List Subject: What speeds up Max more...? A new processor or a decent gfx card ? If so what do you recommend ?
