If you can't find one with NT, buy one with 98 (or wait for them to support win2000) and buy NT, bit more expensive obviously but otherwise your productivity with grind to a halt because of all the crashes! Granted, it's not as bad as win95 (with max 2.5), but you still run out of system resources very quickly as it's not dynamic like NT's... ie, once you've used the resources, that's it. you have to restart (no way to free them up). oh, and forget about running anything other than max at the same time... even something that doesn't eat that much system resources such as your cdplayer...! bon appetit! pete -----Original Message----- From: Eni Oken [mailto:eni@oken3d.com] Sent: Wednesday, March 15, 2000 6:52 AM To: 3DSMAX@engramdigital.com Subject: Windows 98 and Max? Hi Everybody, I'm shopping for a notebook, but I've discovered that it's harder than I thought to get one with Windows NT. Most of them come with Windows 98 and a few are shipping with Windows 2000. A friend told me that Max 3.1 runs under 98, but it crashes a bit. Does anybody have any comments: can I run 3.1 under Win98 to well enough to be able to make some smaller projects? I appreciate any comments you guys may have on the subject.
