Subject: Windows 98 and Max?

Hi Everybody,
I'm shopping for a notebook, but I've discovered that it's harder than 
I thought to get one with Windows NT. Most of them come with 
Windows 98 and a few are shipping with Windows 2000. A friend 
told me that Max 3.1 runs under 98, but it crashes a bit.

Does anybody have any comments: can I run 3.1 under Win98 to 
well enough to be able to make some smaller projects?

I appreciate any comments you guys may have on the subject.
