If not, then create one. After doing so, edit the properties of the icon, and in the command line to run Max add " -h" at the end of the line. Make sure to have a space in there. This will force the hardware drivers option to come up when starting Max. Select a different driver. On my main machine here, I was not able to use either the OpenGL driver nor the special MaxExtreme driver from ELSA. So, I am stuck working with the Heidi driver.
