The card you bought is good for much lower poly scenes. compare when animating just a character... If you work with 750,000 polys and you want faster... well, I hope you are adept at hiding most things all the time so you have a reduced amount of stuff for the machine to chew on all the time. Proper scene handling is very important. Second. Move to a dual cpu machine. Third. scsi harddisks. 10,000 rpm cheetahs... Fourth. the 200 dollar geforce is not better for max, the 750 dollar one might be, but the game version is crippled for wireframe, so you would be in a world of hurt. luck, bayard T Goodwin wrote: > A few weeks back I posted a mail to ask about how to speed up MAX as I > was dissapointed with performance. > > My machine is > PIII 600mHz > W2k > 512MB ram > TNT2 ultra. with 32MB > > The responses I received ran along the lines of - " get a good graphics > card". > > So I now have a FIRE GL1 with 32MB - an apparently proffesional card by > the price. > > I would not say that there is a noticeable difference in the two.
