From: William Waizenegger To: 3dsmax <3dsmax@engramdigital.com> Subject: How to get it reeeeelly small? Date: Friday, April 07, 2000 9:18 PM I have an animation that I want to eventually share with this and other lists for critique. It runs 2:52 in length. Now, I have an archived version of it that is saved as a QuickTime, uncompressed. As you might guess, the file is pretty huge. As a matter of fact, it's about 1.5 gig huge (at 320X240). I'm trying to get it small enough, without significant loss in quality, to make it downloadable off a web site. The best I've been able to do is a QuickTime version, using Sorensen compression, set at medium, and making the resolution smaller (240X180). Then, taking that and compressing it down again as a RAR file. The result has been a file size of 34,155 bytes (before RAR compression) and 19,711 bytes after RAR compression. Whenever I download someone's animation, I've noticed that they've managed to get the file size even smaller, although the animation runs longer and the resolution is higher. So, what is the best way to get these file sizes small enough for distribution? Thanks in advance.
