| The scorching sun shines Sweat streams down my back Birds annoyingly chirp Mosquitoes and flies attack Paper scraps swirl in the wind Ants, on my feet, crawl The earth is hot and dry The swaying palm trees stand tall The sun begins to set Yellow and orange stripes line the sky The moon peeks from behind a cloud Bright stars flicker up high The owl hoots and stares The blackness of night blankets all I shake and shiver from the cold The beginning of a new day stalls. | A New Day |
| I had a difficult time thinking of a title for this but anyhow this imagery filled poem is about the transformation from hot afternoon to cold night.~ I await the warmth of a new day. :) |
| Special thanks to Sumayyah H. for reviewing this poem. |
