MOOSE
The moose(MOO-S) is found all over Canada. Moose that is found in Newfoundland are not native to the island. The males are called Bulls, the females are called cows, and the young ones are called calves. The moose are the largest member of the deer family. The male moose has antlers and the females don't. People hunt them for meat, like my daddy and poppy. Long ago the native people, also used to hunt them for their bones and skins. Moose are very common in some places, such as Newfoundland and Labrador. Moose are very smart at finding their way across the island, and they are smart at finding their own food. I think that moose are very smart, and sorta wild and VERY CUTE!!
Have you ever made a moose call yourself??? Well here's your chance....
Here's how my poppy makes a moose call.....
- First you will need a wide flat boot lace, a 1 liter juice can and a small piece of cloth.
- Then you cut the top out of the can and put a hole in the center of the bottom of it.
- After that, you put the boot lace in the hole and tie a knot inside of the can.
- Then you wet the cloth and the lace and ring out the excess water, so they are damp.
- Then you take the cloth, put it over the string, and squeeze it with your index finger and your thumb.
- THEN PULL AND WATCH OUT FOR THE MOOSE!!
