Erin Higgins's

advice to Future ISCers:
-   Take every opportunity to travel.  Being in Europe is more important than finishing all your readings - besides spending an entire weekend at Bader when there's no one around makes you feel sad, not industrious

-   Similar to  the point above, but if you ahve a free day, go travelling by train - go to Brighton, stay over a night in London go clubbing, even if you hate clubs

-   Spend your money - and not all on food.  Really, if you could choose microwave pizza (because caf food
sucks) or going to London for the day, which would you choose?  You've already paid for those meals in the caf, just suck it up and eat it.

-   Remember, it's institutional food, it's NOT going to be like your mommy makes it.  The caf people try... they're honestly not trying tokill you.

-   Get to know the castle staff - housekeepers, maintenance men, security guards, caf folk, front desk people - they are super friendly people and often have the strangest and most exciting stories of all.

-   Utilize your professors.  You will not get the opportunity to "drop by" your prof's office just to chat again...  mostly because profs at "real universities" have other places to be other than their office.

-   Go on mini bus trips when you can... learn about the countryside surrounding you - there are way more castles to explore

-   Get to know the Recreation man (Simon) He has couches in his office, plus that way you can influence the trips that get planned.

-   Stay over after midterm trips... it generally isn't long enough to explore a great city like Edinburgh or Paris, although don't miss out on something like Vimy Ridge if it's on the way back... you can take the train back to Paris without too much trouble

-    When you do go to places, don't just party it up and sleep all day - go see stuff that is the touristy stuff... in Dublin, see the Book of Kells, or take a walking tour... yes, the pubs are fun, but there's more to it than alcohol and crazy accents.
