It is also a common belief that Nessie is an over-grown sturgeon, that has been warped. It is known that sturgeon have a long life span, and they are very prehistoric looking, with a spine that comes out of it's back. There are photos of sturgeon that have warped spines, very rare but still has happened. It is possible, that this is true, but it's always fun to leave things like this for our imaginations to discover new possibilities.
Deep in the 'Loch Ness' in Scottland there is said to be a moster  popularily known as 'Nessie'. Loch Ness is narrow, around 800 feet deep, and 24 miles long. It is connected to the North sea by the Caledonian Canal. It has had alot of fishes in it in the past, and surprisingly still does. It has quite a fair amount of peat in it, therefore helping it be as murky, and unclear as it is. It is thought that Nessie swims in and out of the Canal. Nessie is mainly said to look kind of like a brontosaurous, with a long neck and big body, but with fins on its sides, instead of feet. It is said that Nessie is about 40 feet in length and has very prehistoric features. Meaning it may be a Plesiosaur, which is a type of prehistoric reptile. Also thought that it might be a Archaeoceti, Which is a type of snakelike subordered whale, thought to have died out 5 million years ago.
Saint Columbia reported having been attacked by a 'monster' in the waters, back in the 6th century.....maybe, that was our Nessie. In 1933, the Mackay family reported seeing " An enormous animal rolling and plunging  in the waters". Also,  the Spicer family said they saw a loathsome creature come out of the waters resembling a monterous snail, or a prehistoric animal.   Thousands more have claimed to have seen it since then.
Since Dr. Robert Rines  took very convincing underwater pictures in 1972, as well as 1975, It has been a more believable story, but still, you can never be sure.....he tried once more in the 1990's, but was unsuccessful. There has never been a discovery of a large body anywhere in Scottland, so Nessie may still be alive....The truth is, there is no 100% evidence that nessie is real, but maybe, deep in the depths of Scottland's Loch Ness, she lurks, undiscovered.
