The Cat's In the Cradle
I was born just the other day,
I came to the world in the usual way.
But there were people to see and places to go,
I learned to walk while you were away.
And I was talking 'for you knew it,
and as I grew I said,
"I'm gonna be like you, mom, you know I'm goona be like you."

And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon,
Little boy blue and the man in the moon.
"When you comin' home mom?"  I don't
know when, But we'll get together then,
You know we'll have a good time then."

Winter passed, spring is on the way.
I said, " The weather's nice, will
you come out and play?"
You said, "Not today, I got a lot to do."
I said, "That's O.K."

And I walked away but my smile never dimmed.
It said, "I'm gonna be like her, yeah,
you know I'm gonna be like her"

And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon,
Little boy blue and the man in the moon.
"When you comin' home mom?"
"I don't know when, But we'll get together
then, you know we'll have a good time then,"

Well I came from Whitko, just the other day.
I was so upset, you just had to say,
"Girl I don't know what's wrong, but
leave your problems at school."
I shook my head and thought with a frown,
If only we could talk we could straighten
this out, butt until then I'll go to my room for a while.
Yeah, I think I'll go cry for a while.

And the Cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon,
Little boy blue and the man in the moon.
"When we gonna talk mom?"
"I don't know when, but it'll be better then,
you know we'll be closer then."

Time will pass, and I'll move away.
You'll pick up the phone, to give me a call.
I'll hear you say, "I'd like to talk if you don't mind."
I'll say, "I'd love to mom, if I had the time, You see,
I have to find a job 'cause my boyfriend left,
But it's sure nice talking to you mom,
it's sure nice talking to you

And as you hang up the phone it'll occur to  you,
"She's grown up just like me,
my daughter is just like me."

And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon,
Little boy blue and the man in the moon.
"When we gonna talk girl?" "I don't know
when, But it'll be better then, Mom,
Life will be better then."
