| Regarding 1Corinthians 15:52 ----------------------------------------------------------- 1Co. 15:50 I declare to you, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. 1Co. 15:51 Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed 1Co. 15:52 in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. 1Co. 15:53 For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. 1Co. 15:54 When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: Death has been swallowed up in victory. [Isaiah 25:8] -------------------------------------------------------- Now it is important, to read first the entire Book of the Bible to get the purpose of what the (letter) Book is about and who the (letter) Book was written to. Then when we quote a particular scripture, we need to look at the passages before and after that particular scripture. We do all this in order that we make absolutely sure that we are not taking the passage out of context. 1Corinthians 15:50 - this gives us a clear indication that this part is being written directly to Christians (I declare to you, brothers). Paul is explaining about who is going to inherit the kingdom of God. So as we read this, we must keep these two things in mind. Look at 1Corinthians 15:52, specifically...the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. Now, look at 1Corinthians 15:54, specifically....when the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable......Death has been swallowed up in victory. Now, think about this for a minute. If death is swallowed up in victory, than there will be no more death. Correct? This backs up the fact that, when the dead (those in Christ) rise imperishable and the ones still alive (those in Christ) are changed, this does not pertain to any rapture at all. This absolutely is at the END of the Tribulation when Jesus comes down in the clouds (like lighting). Why, because after this, there will be no more death. However, we know that people will be dying in great numbers through the entire Tribulation period. So, this mystery spoken of in 1Corinthians 15:51 above, relates to what is going to happen to those (Christians) who sleep and those (Christians) who are still alive WHEN JESUS RETURNS AT THE END OF THE TRIBULATION. |
