Blind and visually impaired users use various types of assistive technology to access the Internet. A blind user is likely to use a screen reader while a visually impaired user is more likely to use a screen magnifier.

As well as different assistive technology blind and visually impaired users have various types of browsers that they can use to access the Internet. For example GUI browsers which are the browsers that the majority of users accessing the Internet use e.g. Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator, Text-Only browsers such as LYNX or Talking browsers such as IBM’s Home Page Reader.
