| First, I will NOT be held liable or responsible for any damage, You or others do to Your Trinity Keyboard, Computer, Yourself, or other items while trying this....Also, I am NOT the maker, designer or owner of the needed and mentioned files, so give proper credit where it is due. I also would like to give a special thanks to Sharp, and xavier for their help and support in this ! A little history, and an opinion or two.... I knew that a Korg Triton could read CD's (with the scsi option installed). When I got My Trinity, I just assumed that it would be able to read CD's in ISO9660 format. How wrong I was. The Trinity kept saying that the CD disk was unformatted, while I could read this same burned CD on the computer all day long. I even called KORG, and got ahold of some "Nimrod" up there who told Me that I should use a real external CD-rom drive, instead of an "internal" CD-Rom drive, because they were wired different ! What a bunch of hooey !!! Needless to say, at this point I was very unimpressed by Korg support. They seemed to not want to discuss it, or if they did the information was wrong, or very vague. Only one guy from Korg (Jerry) had any useful information, and He was ham-strung because He used a MAC ! I guess the Guys at Korg had there reasons for not wanting to discuss the Silver-Beast....After all, the Trinity was an old product by business standards, even if it is still much better than the newer Triton in many ways... Maybe I expected too much from Korg support, or maybe they just didnt know the right answers to begin with..... Anyway, thats when Sharp, xavier and I started reading and looking at anything that delt with the Trinity and reading a CD-rom disk. There was much information, spread out all over the net.... Alot of the information was at the "Trinity Haven" site... All we had to do was put the pieces together, and figure out or read about which files/exes would do what we wanted. Most of the key info was dug out by xavier and Sharp, and I put the information givin to test.... And the rest is now history.... Now that that is out of the way, Here is how I got My Trinity V3 Keyboard, with the HDR-TRI board installed and hooked up to a scsi CD rom drive, to read My burned cd's.... The links You need for the programs are above in red. 1. Download and install ASPI32.exe ... Yes, I know about the stern warning NOT to install this on Windows ME, 2000 or XP. I also read elsewhere that installing this file would not bother Windows Media 7. I took the chance, and I have not had any problems with it installed on My computer running XP pro. It's Your choice, but in order to get "Disk2 File" to run, You must have this installed... Again, I saw no problems after I installed ASPI32.exe, but You have been so advised !!! 2. Download and install "Disk2File". 3. I have a Jaz internal drive installed in My computer, and a Jaz External drive installed on My Trinity Keyboard. I formated one Jaz 1-gig disk, with the Trinity, using OS 3.11. I then took this Jaz disk and loaded all the PCG and KMP/KSF files on it, from the computer Jaz drive. Windows XP did NOT mess with this disk, as far as modifying the boot sector or other things, as far as I could tell. If You dont have a JAZ drive, and want to hook up Your external Trinity Hard-drive to the computer for the next few steps, then that is something I did NOT do, and it may or may not work. As I said, I used Jaz disks.... SCSI interface on the computer, is of course needed.... 4. Rename the Hard-Drive/Jaz Drive label to what the CD-disk should be called.... this will become more clear as to why You need to do this soon... 5. Start up "Disk2File" software. 6. Set the Source Scsi device to AIC78XX(2) (or some number that coinsides with the scsi Hard-drive device) and choose the Scsi Hard-disk . If You dont see Your Hard-disk listed, then just change the AI number until Your hard-drive is listed. Its easier than I describe it here... 7. Go to File size, and Mode (Below). 8. Hit Browse, and select a .ISO (Image) name for Your Image File. 9. In "Size", input 1111111, which as You will see is 542.5 Mbytes big. 10. Select Disk > File (Reads the disk, and writes to a file). 11. Hit Proceed... This starts the read from Your scsi device, and writes this info to the ISO file with the name You earlier selected.. 12. After Disk2File finishes, close this program and open up NERO, or some other CD burning software that allows an ISO file (Image file) to be burned to disk. I used NERO, so the instructions here-in are for NERO users... 13. In Nero, Choose File, and then Burn Image. 14. Find the ISO file created in "Disk2File", and select it in the window. 15. When the "Write CD" screen pops up, Choose write (should already be selected) and Finalize CD. 16. Choose the correct Write speed for Your CD disks, Choose "track at once", and then click on the "Write" button. 17. The Compilation screen should say "CD-Image", and 543 MB, and below the percentage screen it should also say CD-Rom Mode 1.... 18. After the burn, TEST YOUR CD. I use scsi ID #6 for My scsi CD-drive.... 19. Thats all folks !!!! It works for Me !!!! Mileage may vary..... ; ) . |
