Welcome to The Poetry Page!
The collection of poems on this page are all very special to me in some way. Each one reminds me of Tyler and the other angel babies that he is playing with in heaven. Each poem makes me feel closer to them and gives me hope for the future. The first poem is one we included with Tyler's birth announcements. It was the first one to touch my heart in such a profound way.
Welcome my Child
(dedicated to Tyler Anthony Tierney our angel in heaven)
"Welcome My Child," God smiled slowly and said,
"I've waited near five months, for you here in heaven."
The Child turned, looked back toward earth and cried,
"They don't understand why I've left them today!
Lord, look, look -- see how they grieve --
my parents, my family, the nurse and MDs.
Please let me go back - just for a day -
to explain to them why I've come here to stay.
Let me show them how perfect my body is now.
How strong my small arms are, how smooth my small brow,
I'll show them how deeply and easily I breathe.
I'll smile and wave Bye-Bye and roll over with ease.
Please, please let me help them see how happy I am.
Lord, I know I can make them see and understand."
The Lord looked gently at the small pleading Child.
as He wiped a small tear, so tender and mild.
"My dear, do not worry, this is part of my plan.
It takes time for these people to comprehend and understand.
They'll heal and they'll grow from the lessons you've taught.
They'll laugh and be joyful more often than naught."
The Lord held the Child in his strong arms.
"We'll wait for them here away from all harm,
we'll laugh and we'll sing, and we'll dance and we'll play
and they'll meet us right here, over Jordan someday.
Then all will be explained and all understood,
and then they will know it was all for the good."
The Lord and the Child walked slowly away
and down here on Earth the people that stayed
shook their heads sadly, peered Heavenward and sighed,
gathered each other closely, hugged tightly and cried.
This small lovely Child who left without sin,
Will touch this whole family again and again.
Through grace and kindness, we'll learn what to do.
You've touched our lives deeply, and we won't forget You.

The Cord
We are connected, My child and I,
by An invisible cord Not seen by the eye.
It's not like the cord That connects us 'til birth
This cord can't been seen By any on Earth.
This cord does it's work Right from the start.
It binds us together Attached to my heart.
I know that it's there Though no one can see
The invisible cord From my child to me.
The strength of this cord Is hard to describe.
It can't be destroyed It can't be denied.
It's stronger than any cord Man could create
It withstands the test Can hold any weight.
And though you are gone, Though you're not here with me,
The cord is still there But no one can see.
It pulls at my heart I am bruised...I am sore,
But this cord is my lifeline As never before.
I am thankful that God Connects us this way
A mother and child Death can't take it away!
