Enterprise rent a car started as Executive Leasing in the basement of a Cadillac dealership in St.Louis. Jack Taylor, the founder wanted to start a leasing office that would treat customers fairly and professionally. From 1957 onward, customer service has been the primary focus of this company. |

After opening three branches in St. Louis, Jack Taylor decided it was time to open branches in other cities. Atlanta, Florida and Kansas City were the first Enterprise offices opened outside of St. Louis. THe name Enterprise appeared with these first offices in honor of the aircraft carrier Jack Taylor had served on during world war two.
In Florida, in 1972, the car rental business really took off and little by little, over the next decade, rentals became the primary focus of the company, instead of leasing. In 1988 this change was reflected in the naming of the company as Enterprise rent a car. In 1994, the first offices were opened in the United Kingdom and three years later in Germany.
Today Enterprise rent a car is the leading car rental company in the United States with over 600,000 vehicles and his the largest recruiter of college students. |
