Sheba is a 5-year-old, grey, long-haired cat. I got her when she was six months old. Her owner had rescued her, her mother and siblings from the bush in his backyard. They were all feral. I locked Sheba in the bathroom to keep Bessy away. I spent a full day and two nights with her while she hid behind the toilet. That's when I think I became "her" human. Sheba has come a long way since then. She now is the queen of the household and no longer runs and hides at the slightest noise. While she is wary of strangers and is by no means a cuddly cat, Sheba is a huge part of my life. From the mice she catches for me (but doesn't kill) to the sleeping at my feet at night, Sheba has found a way into my heart! She's not as popular with the rest of my family cause she'd rather bite them then let them pet her ;).

Bessy is an 9-year-old, St. Bernard-Lab-Collie-German Shephard cross. Weighing in at over 100 pounds, this is one big dog (yes, we have gotten all the jokes: "where'd you get the horse?", "do you ride that pony?"). Despite her large size, Bessy is the biggest baby! She lets a nine pound cat boss her around! She is also extremely clumsy, and loves meeting people (you just gotta be careful she doesn't knock you down!). Bessy isn't exactly trained, but she'll usually do what she's told, especially for food. She can be pretty overprotective of us, especially around other dogs. Bessy seems to really enjoy the farm life, except for the big, scary horses. She spends most of her day flopped out on the floor, or outside, sleeping soundly.

Kakashi is our latest acquisition. We found her hanging around our house November 2004. After a trip to the vet, she came to live with us. To our relief, both of our spoiled pets accepted her quite easily and Kashi soon settled in. Kashi is our friendly cat. She can be a little nervous when picked up, but she'll come running if you call her and she loves to play with strings. Kashi never claws, but she does bite everything! She is also a very vocal cat, saying 'hello' in the morning. Kashi also has the annoying habit of biting your face to wake you up! When we found her, Kashi was skin and bones (hence her name, which means scarecrow). Now, she is a little chunky and especially loves her treats!
