Fallen Hero

1940-1980

I don't normally hate people...

But for Mark David Chapman, I think I am going to make an exception. He recently got rejected for parole, and this makes me happy, but it also makes me disappointed.

For those of you who don't know, he is the person who murdered former Beatle, John Lennon. John Lennon is why I write at all. If there is one person who has influenced me to express myself in a creative way, it is John Lennon. I have been a Beatles fan since I was about 15. This is about the time that I began to like writing things, such as poetry and stories. Songs like "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds" and "I Am the Walrus" really inspired me with their creative, almost nonsensical lyrics. Currently one of my favorite Beatle songs is "Being For the Benefit of Mr. Kite." Of course one of my favorite songs all-time is "Imagine." I even grew my hair long and bought some round-lensed glasses so I could try to look like John Lennon. Given the choice on meeting anyone, John Lennon would definatly be first on my list. The only time I have ever attempted drawing a serious picture is when I the face of a White Album era John Lennon with his eyes closed, and it was not bad. I wish I knew where it was. As you can see, he has been a major influence on me.

In December, 1980, when I was four years old, one Mark David Chapman killed John Lennon, shooting him from behind several times. He was sentenced to Attica State Prison for 20 years to life.

Chapman wanted to be paroled, and he even went so far as to say John Lennon would want to see him paroled, because John Lennon was a liberal. This is almost as ridiculous as the reason he gave for shooting John Lennon, which was:
"I think the main problem was that my father never talked about life or problems,"
"Perhaps I was getting him back, killing John Lennon, ruining my life as well."

He also mentioned he considered killing his father, but settled on John Lennon. In regards to his father, he said "I wanted to hold a gun to his head, make him beg. Blow him away. I was really mad at him"

Well why the fuck didn't you kill that bastard? Or better yet, why didn't you just kill yourself and save us all the trouble of having to share the planet with such a fucking piece of shit.

Chapman claims to have found Christianity, and could never kill again. I believe him. I don't think he would kill again. As a matter of fact, I was hoping he would get paroled. You may be wondering "But you said you were happy, but disappointed in the beginning." Well, I'm happy that he's in prison, but partly disappointed. The reason for the disappointment is if he were paroled, I would have just sat back and waited for the news story, which would have been inevitable:

Mark David Chapman, Killer of Former Beatle John Lennon, Found Murdered.
