Hercules 6th Labour (Virgo)...

STORY: Hercule's 6th labour was to bring back to King Euresteas a holy belt which had been guarded by the Queen of the Amazons Ippolyte until that time. Queen Ippolyte ruled over the Amazons - a tribe of warrior women who lived alone withoug men, visited men only when the felt the need for reproduction. As the myth said she was to guard this belt until the time one would come to take it from the Amazons. Hercule's was advised to be careful not to use unnecessary force. All the King wanted was the belt, no killings this time. Still Hercules beeing sure of himself travelled to the land of the Amazons over a great sea and there he entered their land and walked inside their capital town. Queen Ippolyti had heard the news of Hercules coming to get the belt and knowing the myth she knew she had to give it away, but still she wasn't sure Hercules was the man she expected. She summoned the other amazons for consulting but Hercules came to meet her just when she had started talking to the amazons about the matter. Not having enough time to council her companions the queen walked forward to welcome Hercules. She had an ambiguous look on her face and Hercules thought she had decided to resist. Without much thought Hercules grasped Ippolyti and pulled the belt out of her. As Ippolyti struggled to free herself and he tried to keep her silent he lost control of himself and his strength easily damaged Ippolyti fatally. Hercules knew this had been totally unnecessary and remembered the advise he had been given and which he had ignored so foolishly. Not knowing what to do he turned around and started his journey back full of sorrow. As he was travelling back home he felt more and more guilty and this situation caused him to stir instictively when he heard loud voices and quarel. He engaged some people who were very nervous about the fact that a poor girl had just been kidnapped by a feasum beast. Hercules felt the need to engage this battle, although this was not his duty. He felt this way he would clean himslef up for the unnecessary killing of Ippolyti. So he threw himself into the sea, reached the fearsum beast after a while and begun a trendous fight with it. At the end he managed to free the poor girl who had been captured by it.

SYMBOLS: This myth has a number of symbols encapsuled inside that are related to the sign of Virgo. After having mastered himself on the sign of Leo, Hercules has to learn how to deal with superior entities, how to handle his now tremendous force (after mastering Leo) so that it wouldn't hurt others. This unfortunately is a very difficult procedure especially for Virgos. People born under this sign seem not to be aware of the wrong they are doing to others in the name of justice and in the name of what is Right. They have to learn the very important lesson of adjusting their knowledge to other people's level of undestanding. On the other hand Virgos might be totally unwilling to talk to anyone or advise out of fear that they will hurt him/her. This happens after a significant failure, a case where a Virgo totally blew things up. After this a Virgo feels like a coward, doesn't really want to be helpful at all if this is to "kill" someone, like Hercules did when failing to master his strnegth and unwillingly killing Ippolyti. When this happens a Virgo has to start all over again. He/she hasto implement this very same procedure again and again until control of strength and knowledge becomes possible. Thus Hercules throws himself into the chase of the beast to test his stregth again, to kill the beast but this time bring the sensitive victim back alive. This myth doesn't only talk about Virgo's. It talks about every person who realises the tremendous force that he/she hides inside and which if not under control might by a disaster to everyone. It refers to every group with authority which is meant to use this for service but fails to do so, like the police or the army or the the husband who mistreats his wife for what matter. All these classes and situations fall into the sign of Virgo. On the other hand this myth talkes us about the other side too, the side of the victim. Queen Ippolyti knows her "hero" is coming as virgins expected their future husbands in the old times, not knowing what to expect, full of fear and ambiquity, one that would easily be misundestood by the man as not liking. The very same thing happens to all victim groups, people who face authority andauthority misjudging ambiquity for attempt to escape the "Judgment". This is a very important lesson for the relationship betwwen the strong and the weak and a very important lesson for Virgos themselves.
