Hercules 8th Labour (Scorpio)... |
|||||||||||
STORY: Hecrule's 8th labour was to destroy a strange creature which terrified people and brought diseases and filth in a lake called Lerni. The beast was called Lernaian Hydra and it was something like a snake. Only this snake didn't have 1 head but 9! One of these heads was immortal and Hercules had to find it and cut it off of Hydra's body if Hydra was to be defeated. But if Hercules cut another had by mistake TWO heads grew up in the place of the old one. This task was very difficult and Hercules had to gather all his powers to destroy this beast.
The battle betwwen Hydra and Hercules kept on going for days. Noone could defeat the other and Hercules couldn't find a way to kill Hydra. At first he tried to cut off all of Hydra's heads to find out which one was the immortal one, but Hydra was not only strong, it was also clever and kept avoiding him. He had only managed to cut off two of it's heads and to see that four heads had grown in their places.
Hercules was full of filth as he was struggling inside the mud and filth of the swap which ironically was called a lake. For the first time in his life he faced a situation which didn't challenge his cleverness or his strength or his will or his perstince. It challeng his clearness of thinking. For the first time he didn't know what to do.
Suddenly his mind silenced. After all this time he had been struggling he saw a picture in his mind which gave him the solution to his problem. Having achieved inner peace cause now he knew he was calm and not in a harry. He threw himslef inside the swamp again and grasped Hydra. Avoiding all her moves (he knew now they were tricks to keep him fighting) he pulles her out slowly but steady. Hydra was fighting to keep him distracted to make him loosen the grasp and defend himself, but Hercules didn't answer these provocations. He knew they were just tactic moves by the cleverest of enemies he had ever faced. He finally pulled Hudra out of the swamp and he stood by on the side watching. Hydra was drying... Outside the swamp its skin was drying and the mortal heads began trembling one after the other. Soon they were all exhausted and out of life. The immortal head stood there watching Hercules full of hate. Hercules cut off the immortal head and looked at it in the eye as it was still alive. Hydra kept looking for a while but soon realised Hercules was not the same anymore. He couldn't be fooled or hypnotised. So it lowered its eyes and surrendered. |
