Hercules 4th Labour (Cancer)...

STORY: Hercule's fourth labour was to capture a dear. This deer lived in a forest dedicated to godess Artemis, the moon Godess and also the Godess of hunting. In the center of the forest there was a tempel built to praise the Gods. It was Hercule's responsibility to capture the deer and enter with it inside the tempel where it would be devoted to the Gods. Still Artemis wouldn't like to have her deer lost for the other Gods sake. Hercules was sent to capture the deer despite Artemises wish to save it. Hercules task seemed easy. How difficult could it be to capture a deer? However this time Hercules was warned that he wouldn't have any help from any Gods and that he would have to complete the task with his own powers only. Hercules found soon it wouldn't be so easy to capture this deer. He had to chase it around the forest, where it could hide from one place to another and even when he got close Artemis clouded his vision just enough to give her deer a chance to get away again. Hercules never thought it would be so difficult to capture the deer. He almost passed a whole year chasing the deer and he was still helpless. One day by pure chance he saw the deer lying near a small lake drinking water. Hercules sneaked closer and before the deer had a chance to leave managed to send an arrow to wound its rear right foot. The deer fell down near the lake and Hercules crawled to it, so tired and so out of energy, holded the deer close to his heart and thought "This deer is mine, it isn't Artemises deer, it's not for the gods, it's mine, I earnt it, I sweat to get it, I will stay here and hold it close to my heart, it's mine!" "This is not true, Hercules and you know it" a voice from heaven belled inside his head. And the voice was right, and Hercules knew but he didn't want to part himself from the deer anymore, it was his... Finally he pushed himself to get up and carried the dear to the tempel where he left it for the Gods to do with it what they thought appropriate.

SYMBOLS: This myth describes us the nature of Cancer. Cancer is a sign characterized by a certain sorrow and tragedy. Traditionally it symbolises the stage of the baby during pregnency. Generally it symbolises the person which struggles during lifetime to express something he knows he has inside but he doesn't know how to form it so that other can see it. It is said that during incarnation process the soul first assumes a mental form in Aries, than experiences the law of attraction in Taurus and becomes emotional and in Gemini it binds these two forms with the matter by intervention of life energy. In Cancer the form is completed all four materials that form up the human mortal side are completed. Yet the person has to learn how to identify himself as an individual. Putting materials into a casserole doesn't yet mean that we have a cooked dinner. The taste is still missing. This myth explains some characteristic features of cancer mentality. First of all it is the fact that cancer starts his task all alone. It is somehow tragic how cancers seem to be struggling against forces they understand fully but whose help they never manage to have on their side. They sometimes have to fight against everyone just to keep themselves alive. Second and in addition to the previous feature cancer never stops trying. The very same knowledge that all they can rely on is themselves is the one that makes them keep going. Cancers never stop trying. Even crawling, out of energy and exhausted like Hercules they never stop. Deep down in Cancer soul the wish to overcome this stage of standstill to start something new, something they alone will have accomplished. Cancer is left on his own to manage with his life because he deeply knows that all the gifts he was about to have, he already has. He already has learnt how to adapt his thoughts, he learnt it in Aries, he knows about how to handle attraction and posessiveness and he also learnt in Gemini how to trust his own inner thoughts. But what is missing than? The personal will, that's what is missing, the one that will guide all previous matters. The cookers hand stiring the food inside the casserole. That is why no matter how small it is the thing that Cancer wants to do during lifetime, it is very important to him, because it is his doing, not anyone else's, only his like the dear Hercules kept near his chest. "This deer is mine" he said "I earnt it, I sweat to get it". That is why Cancers do not care for anyone else's money and they don't select companies judging by what others have. They judge people by what they have accomplished and by the dream they have in mind to accomplish. Only this is not quite obvious to the many and most of the times cancers are usually unappreciated.
