STORY: The 1st labour of Hercules was to collect a herd of human eating female hourses that belonged to king Diomedes... This herd was out of control and noone had the ability to control them...
Hercules went along to the field and tried to gather these horses with the help of his friend Abderus...
They struggled for a long time in order to hash them and collect them to a specific place...
When they managed to collect them Hercules was very pleased and sat down under a tree to rest, leaving his friend Abderus to guard the horses...
The horses were too strong for Abderus to hold on its own though and so they not only managed to get themselves free, they also managed to kill and eat poor Abderus dead body...
Hercules was so devistated by his friend's death and by the fact that he made a fatal mistake overestimating his friend's strength to guard these horses...
Full of sorrow he pushed himself to perform the duty once more and started all over again trying to gather the horses...
At the end he managed to conclude his labour with success but his victory was pyrrhic and the death of his friend was a strong hit on his pride and his arrogance...
SYMBOLS: The focus on this story is on the sign of Aries... Concepts are given in accordance to Alice Bailey's Book about Hercule's Labours...
Alice Bailey describes Aries' main task in life as to control the thoughts of the mind...
She sees the thoughts that spread around from one place to another leading us to thing this for a moment and that for the next moment, springing from one subject to another, no making sence, as female horses, wild and out of "male" control...
Female and male is not ment literally here... what is meant is that "male" is supposed to be the controling concious whereas female are the thoughts that dance around full of selfadmiration...
Hercules is the struggling concious... each and everyone's effort to focus his/her mind...
Aries main task in life is to put some order in the mind of each owner... To focus thought, to bit the wild horses of the mind...
Aries usual mistake in life is that once they have managed to control thought once they seem to think that the subject is closed...
So they leave their unconcious to carry on with the task of controling thoughts... Unfortunately though this is not something that unconcious is able to do...
Soon thoughts appear again, sometimes wilder than before and at the more appropriate time bringing disaster to Rams' life... and Rams' pride is so much hurt by the fact that they proved less than perfect...
Then they have to draw back to themselves and make a very very important turn... They have to forget their pride, forget even their sadness for whatever bad has already happened and start all over again...
And this time they will know that they have to guard their "horses" ALL the time... Because they never know when they will get wild again...
