This page is dedicated to Mustangs new and old.
My family arrived in this country during the summer of 1969. Having little money our first car was a 1964 Ford Falcon. I rebuilt my first engine with my dad. It was a straight six (200 cid) for a 1967 Comet that we shipped down to Miami from New York in 1973 when we moved. I learned to drive in my mom’s car, a 1979 Ford Granada. It was several years later that the Mustang bug bit.
It was October of 1982 during my Sophomore year of high school that my best friend (Tito) asked me if I wanted to get lunch at a local high school hangout. With nothing better to do I said yes. I can remember that day like it was yesterday. We walked up to a primered out car in the student parking lot; there she was a 1968 Mustang GT fastback. As we jumped in, Tito fired up the old 302 4bbl and stepped her through the gears. It was the most beautiful car I had ever seen or heard. He popped a cassette in and the song just fit the moment, “You Shook Me All Night Long” AC/DC. Since that day in 82, that song will always belong to that car.
Needless to say being a Ford kid growing up and having a best friend with such a dream car, I read every book and magazine I could find that had anything to do with Mustangs. It did not take long to find my own Mustang and yes we both still have these cars today.
