THE RAIN (sonnet version, unrhymed)
I sat in the rain and I thought of you
Wished it was into your arms that I cried
Wished it was your warmth I felt beside me
I heard children laughing, running, playing
I miss my innocent, carefree childhood
Children don't worry about things like love
Don't worry about not being wanted
They can play together and be themselves
But a child must enter the adult world
And realize that her heart will cry out
For a love that nothing can dissipate
A love that will not always be around
And her dear, sweet heart will be torn apart
Like you, my love, have seen fit for my own.
