| Happy Holidays from the Matthews! | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Happy Holidays to all of our family and friends. For those we haven't spoken to since September, we are still here in Louisiana and survived Katrina. We had very minimal damage to our house, but lost our trees. Thankfully, that was all. We evacuated to Lake Livingston where Harlan't parents live and have a nice guest basement area. The Girls all stayed two weeks before heading home. Dow called Harlan back to work a few days after the storm and he stayed at the plant until power was restored at our house. He also took care of disposing all the items from the refrigerator and getting the trees cut up so the Girls didn't have to come back to a mess. New Orleans is still not back and probably won't be for some time, so we are learning to adjust to the new normal in the area. Other than the Fall excitement, our year was fairly routine. Heather finished Kindergarten and began 1st grade. She is reading well above the expected levels and is doing independent study with a small group. She is still in dance, piano and is now a Brownie in Girl Scouts. She also played soccer this Fall with Daddy as Asst. Coach. Hannah graduated to the 3 year old pre-school class and loves going to 'school". Her favorite color is green and she has a baby named Samuel, just like Hannah in the Bible. She is taking dancing also and loves it. Hailey is trying to talk more each day and keep up with her sisters. She jabbers a lot and calls everyone MaMa (well except the dog, she does call her Tasha). She tries each day to annoy her sisters in a new way. She is very stufforn and of course picks up on all the things we don't like the older girls doing. They are each a blessing to us. Harlan is still working for Dow and refereeing soccer in his free time. What little is left, he spends with the Girls. Mary keeps up with chaufferiing keeping the house together. Tasha continually works on getting fed. She takes food any chance she gets. We visited Texas as Easter, before school started and Thanksgiving in addition to our unplanned Labor Day extended trip. We took the girls to Disney World over Mardi Gras week and they had a blast riding the rides and seeing all the princesses. We wish everyone joy and happiness in 2006. Take care and we hope to see you soon. Love, Harlan, Mary, Heather, Hanah, Hailey and Tasha. (pictures are available by clicking on underlined words) |
