Q: MTV's TRL has gone to 50 days for retirement of a video. Do you think MWL should do the same?
A: Considering that the gap between the last retired video of 2001 and the first retired videos of 2001 was *4* months, yes, I do think retirement should be shortened. It'd provide for a fresher cycle of videos to run through for every Great Eight countdown.

Q: I suggested that MWL set up a special retirement for Chris Cagle. Maybe by early retirement where as a video with 50 to 55 days in the G8 and at least 10 days JMTGE the video would get retired. if that day the video is JMTGE then play it as they would the debuts. they have some extra time. I also think they should re-instate the top 10 and play 10 and 9 like they have been playing 8,7,and6 on Saturday nights. That way the videos would get counted to the retirement and maybe Chris will be retired. Also have you noticed that no videos that debut after the switch to the Great 8 has retired.
A: These are two ideas for the countdown that are great, and I wish that CMT would listen to people like you who would like to see some change back to the way things were. Another fun fact for you: Kenny Chesney's "Young" and Tim McGraw's "The Cowboy In Me" will be the first two videos to be Just Missing The Great Eight and still manage to retire. Every video up to these two have hit the JMTGE list and staggered. Shocking, yet not surprising, really...
