They finished with 12 runners LOB and could only come up with 2 runs which was enough thru 4 to keep the score tied but a crazy 5th inning that had 3 NE hits a walk a sacrifice and a play at the plate and that equaled 4 runs and enough to put the game away.
Junior Grady Wood went the distance for
Willamette striking out 3 with 2 walks and 3 earned runs.
Kenny Gebhardt and Travis Woodke were both 2 for 4 for the visiting
Wolves and Freshman Taylor Woodke had a line drive double in the 3rd
to straight away center which also plated one of the two Wolverine
runs. Coach Klopp was heard saying that his guys played 100% for the
whole game and he is proud of were his team is headed.

one Thurston run in the 1st inning Mac Marshall settled down and threw 6
and 1/3 innings of 5 hit baseball. Marshall struck out 6 colts and gave
up only one earned run, a solo home run to Skip Spencer in the 3rd,
For the Wolves, who just today in the local paper were picked to finish
last in the league by the other coaches the 13 hits of which 5 were
doubles and the HR by Maahs as well as the fine outing by Marshall may
have been just enough to get them fired up and looking forward to the
rest of the league season.
