Welcoming Residents

I have named this section "welcoming new residents" because this part of your job is vital. As stated in the Guidelines, welcoming a new resident must be done on the Block Message Board, the Hood Message Board and then with a personal introductory message in the new residents Inbox with the contents of how to turn HTML tags to on.

Remember that the below examples represent a general idea of the message needed to be sent. We always encourage imagination and role play. We welcome change and innovation..... :)

Messages
Let us start by posting a message on the block message board.

1-Press the MESSAGES button in the navigation bar and view the message board window open. In this window you may view the different messages and the threads of replies. When reading a message you will see a REPLY button that you can use.

2-But for now lets press the POST button at the top of the message board. You now see the place where you may enter your Message Title and the area where the test is to be entered. You will also notice HTML code, this is optional if you have the know how and will allow you to display text color, fonts and pictures.

3- Once your message complete press POST.

Message to All
Message to all is essentially the same as posting a message, but in this case you will be posting a message to the Message Boards of each resident. This is good for announcing events. TIP: When posting your welcome message on the block message board you may wish to copy the contents of your message to save time and avoid retyping. 1) Press the MESSAGE TO ALL button. 2) Paste you copied text or type your message. 3) Press POST button to send.

Inbox Welcome
The Block Leader will also post a message in the new residents inbox. Visit the home of the resident and press INBOX button. The welcome message should be an introduction and contain information on how to turn on HTML tags. The following is a sample of the letter I use.

 Greetings Resident,

My nick is mickeyw and I am your Neighborhood Leader here in Astrology. It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to our Hood and offer my services as a guide to your Cybertown experience. Should you require my assistance you can reply to this message or visit me at my home, simply press the my house name on the right navigation panel to beam there directly. (It’s the one with the letters NL in it.) A little tip for your Message board and Inbox is to turn on your HTML tags. To do this press the CONFIGURE button at the top and scroll down to the bottom where is says: Should posting of HTML tags be allowed in messages of your inbox? Change the NO to YES with the pull down and then press the POST button. In the configure window you may also customize your boards to your liking. I invite you to read your Inbox, Message Board and Block Message Board upon each login as announcements of events will be posted. Have fun....

Deleting Messages
At the turn of each week, the Block Leader should proceed with deleting old messages off the Block Message Board. You will need to select each message and press the DELETE button. Exception for deleting a message are ongoing events or contests, those should remain announced until the event is completed.
