Interview applicant using these suggestions:
KEY
POINTS
Always try to interview in 3D so you can make a copy of the interview. This is not an option for some because 3D messes up. If that is the case 2D is fine. Just don't close the chat window until you have had a chance to review the interview without the applicant present. When possible try to have another team member in the interview with you. It always helps to have another viewpoint and the other person may pickup on something you might have missed. Remember: Teamwork is the key to success.
When beginning an Interview begin by trying to set the person at ease with small talk but keep it short. This is also a good time to ask the person to tell you a bit about themselves. This is not the time share information about yourself. Many applicants will ask A/S/L. Do not reveal anything as this affects how the person responds to you and the questions being asked. For example, the interviewee will always respond differently to a man than a woman. Also, the interviewee will respond differently to a 19 year old than he would to a 50 year old. So DO NOT share any information about yourself other than your job title, name of hood, and the block which the person is being hired for.
If ever you find the person being interviewed is being pushy, demanding, or trying to run the show immediately take a firm, matter of fact stance by advising the person of who you are (the interviewer), who they are (the interviewee) then immediately let them know what is expected. If they do not comply then end the interview. This person is not a candidate for employment. The reasoning is simple. A person exhibiting this type of behavior at entry level will create even greater problems if hired. Another point to consider, if the person keeps rushing you, saying they don't have time then advise them you will reschedule for a time more convenient for them. If they are unwilling to reschedule then they are not a candidate for employment. Also, remind them, they are the ones applying not you so if they want really want a job then a time should have been specified which is/was good for them.
If they settle down, continue with the interview. Always listen for contradictions in statements. For example: I'm on CT 3 to 4 hours a day then later says During Holidays I go on long trips, or I'm a member of Band, the school paper, and the Student Council. These 2 statements show the person can not be on 3 to 4 hours a day. Get the person to explain so you will know just how much coverage you will have to provide if the person is hired.
A BL
must be on 8 hours a week & be able to maintain timely communications with
ND plus BD's. A BD 6 hours a week
and maintain timely communication with BL. The first thing you want to establish
is what they know about the hood so begin
by asking, Do you know anything
about our hood or do you know anything about Astrology? If they answer yes, have
them tell you what they know and clarify any
areas they may be confused on or add anything they don't know.
5.
Request Security Check. Review the interview. Make notes of anything you
may want to clarify. If you had a team member with you during the interview,
discuss each others views on the interview. Make the decision. Call the
applicant back. Advise the applicant of your decision.
6. If
all checks out, have the person move to location of Job
7.
Put them in access
8.
Train them
9. Do
a post about them on block and hood board
10. Help them get started and introduce them around.
