Sacred Wisdom Circle
For those in the Crystal Lake, Illinois area

The circle is a universal symbol for unity and wholeness and the form of meeting in circle is ancient.  Each of us has ancestors, no matter what our ethnic or racial background, who sat around a fire together, drumming, singing, playing, dancing, telling stories, praying, grieving together, and solving the problems of everyday life.  The memory of this connection to the circle is in our bodies, in our psyches.

Circles are a sacred, and an important symbol. For Native Americans it represents the four seasons, the heavens and the earth, the universe, and the cycle of life. The circle is a symbol of wellness because it also stands for mental, physical, spiritual and emotional health and the wholeness of a community.

A Wisdom Circle:   Now Forming -

We each contain an enduring spark of wisdom at the heart of all creation. Isolated and unsupported, it may remain a small but relentless spark. United with others, those sparks grow into a flame of illumination and strength for us all.

The wisdom circle serves many purposes.  It is a place for individuals to practice heart-to-heart communication skills, to heal the wounds of loss, and abuse, to find the courage to act upon that "still small voice within," to empower our best selves.  Here we can share a vision, discover a mission.  Here we can acknowledge and heal the wounds we carry, and create a feeling of community.  It is a valuable way to find cohesion.

A wisdom circle is also a place to hear opposing views, reconcile differences and find, or offer, forgiveness.  It is also a practice arena for the way we want to be in the world.   The wisdom circle has a sacred purpose, and allows for honoring each person's wisdom.  Listening can become a collective spiritual practice where we can focus our meditation and helps each member feel safe and valued enough to participate authentically.
The Feather is a symbol representing the spirit of a truth-seeker.
