Using Glitter and Gold Leaf on Acetate

This peacock card looks complicated, but in a few simple steps, it's a masterpirece! The only thing you need is a little patience to wait for the glitter to dry...

Materials

How To

  1. Stamp image onto acetate using permanent ink. Touch up any blank areas with the black Sharpie pen.
  2. Lightly rub anti-static pad over the acetate. Remove excess. Use the "right" stamped side of the image, fill one area of the peackock with glue. Use the lines of the stained glass image to define the fill area. Fill other areas that you will use the same color glitter with glue. Dump on some glitter, covering the glue, and tap the excess back into your container. Let dry until partially or completely set, then continue with other colors. Let dry completely and remove any excess glitter.
  3. Using a paintbrush, cover the unglittered area around the peacock with leafing adhesive--on the same side as the glitter. Immediately wash the brush. Let the adhesive dry until it is clear. It should be tacky. Lay the foil, design side down, onto the adhesive. Remove the excess leaf, and patch any area that's blank with leafing.
  4. Fold a card. Cut a piece of cardstock the same size as the front of your card. Cut a round out of the middle of the piece of cardstock the same size as your stamped image. Stamp the cardstock with your peacock feather stamp and the Brilliance ink, making sure that you get one feather in each corner of the card. Let dry. Line the edge with gold leafing pen and let dry. Adhere the acetate to the back of the cardstock with double stick/regular tape or glue, making sure the image fits through the center. Tape this assembly using double stick tape to the front of your folded card.
  5. Glue the jewels to the centers of the peacock feathers in the corner. Let dry.
  6. Cut the corners with your decorative scissors and line the edges of the card with gold leafing pen. Let dry! Enjoy!
