After Kadie passed away, we didn't ever think we would ever get another Sheltie. I had been checking out Sheltie related stuff on the internet, when I came across Sheltie rescue sites. I checked out the local rescue groups & found Indiana Sheltie Rescue. There were a couple older dogs on their site. Spencer was one.
There just happened to be an open house at the Best Friends Pet Resort in Indianapolis, the next weekend & Indiana Sheltie Rescue would have a booth there. Paula wasn't sure about going. She still felt we weren't ready for another Sheltie.
We went & were surprised to see Spencer there. We spent some time with him & his foster mum. We knew he would be the one. We filled out the papers to start the adoption process.
We still had to have a home visit to complete the adoption. We survived the visit & finally got the call on May 5th, 2001 to come & pick him up.

Spencer came into rescue after his companion of many years passed away. He spent a week at the animal shelter in Fort Wayne, In. The folks at the shelter contacted ISR and asked if they would be interested in saving him. He was 2 days away from being put down. It would be hard to imagine life without Spencer....
Spencer was diagnosed with cancer late spring of 2005. After a hard fight, he lost the battle & went on to the Rainbow Bridge. He waits there with his master... "In time we will meet again at the Bridge"
