EIGHT-DAY INDIVIDUALLY GUIDED RETREATS
The eight-day retreat is a time to deepen one's spiritual life through intense periods of prayer and the guidance of an experienced person. This intense experience of prayer requires good health, emotional maturity, sufficient knowledge of the faith and sufficient experience of regular prayer. The purpose of this retreat is to draw from the resources already present within oneself in relationship to God and in coping with life.
During this retreat, the retreatant spends four to five hours in mental prayer every day. The observance of strict silence enables the person to enter into reflection, meditation & contemplation. Each retreatant is personally helped by a trained guide through daily interviews. The retreatant shares the prayer experiences, and the guide helps him/her discern the action of the Holy Spirit. Discernment is the key to the process of growth in union with God and in the spiritual life. The guide offers suggestions for the next day of prayer. This form of retreat helps those more experienced in the life of prayer.
