Welcome to GW1AKT.NET
This site is dedicated to my hobby of amateur radio, read about my activities within the hobby and follow the links to other related sites of interest.
I was originally licensed back in 1983 with the call sign GW1AKT, and since that time have spent many interesting hours experimenting and working other stations on the VHF, UHF & microwave bands using this call sign.
More recently I have also acquired the call sign MW3AGN, which allows me to operate on the HF bands from 1.81Mhz to 24Mhz at a power level of just 10 Watts. However due to a recent change in the UK amateur licensing regulations following the removal of the morse requirement for operation on frequencies below 30Mhz this callsign is now redundant, and all future operation will be with the callsign GW1AKT.
As time goes on and this site grows, I hope to include a number of photographs of my adventures in amateur radio.
I am currently operational on the 80,40,20,17,15.12,10,6 and 2 meter bands, and also the 70Cms band
The equipment I currently use is as follows:
For all HF bands, a Kenwood TS570DG transceiver, for the 2 meter and 70 centimeter bands an Alinco DR605 dual band FM transceiver and also an Icom IC706 MkIIG, for mobile and portable operations, and for use on the 6,2 and 70cms bands from home.
Latest news! Special event station GB0DFS will again be operational from the Denbigh Flower Show from 10.00 BST to17.00 BST on Saturday August 26th on various HF bands.
The following pages will contain various amateur radio related topics, including a number of links to other amateur radio sites.
