Team News

June 16th
The team's end of the year picnic will be today at 5:00pm. It is a pot luck so bring food or drink. If you remeber what you signed up to bring, please bring that. And if you don't remeber just bring something. Other then food bring your yearbooks and your wonderful selves. See you there!

May 21st
Last meeting of the year. There was a party, with large amounts of chips and also end of the year wrap ups and such. The team picnic date was set for June 16th at Heritage Oaks Park at 5 o'clock. Remeber to come to the Graduation and seel flowers, if you don't have a 0 or 7th, go Urvi's house at 11 to help with dethorning roses for the fundraiser.

May 17th
For Competitors and judges of the novice tournament, be at school in the front parking lot at 7, No later.

May 14th
Last meeting before the novice tournament (on thur. may 15th and sat. may 17th), Also for those students competing for english class, feel free to come to get feedback and have team members help you on your speechs.

May 7th
Normal meeting with reduce attedence due to AP testing. Ther was debate practice and practice for those in the novice tournament as well.

April 30th
Shattered Silence, "a speech and debate showcase" was tonight. People brought food and we got a few people, so I guess we're doing well.

April 23rd
Normal Meeting, except... Elections for next year's club officers. The Y chromosome was under represented and thus... We have an all girl club board, and the guys seem rather bitter about this. However rest assured that you will still have a quality board...

April 11th, 12th, and 13th
Santa Clara Invatational. Stephan Hess was a quarter finalist in LD debate, Laurel Lathrop was a finalist in OO and got 2nd in OPP, Stephanie Ryan got 2nd in Novice OI, Amir Adibi and Urvi Nagrani got 1st in Novice Parlimentary debate, Urvi Nagrani got 2nd in total speaker points for Novice Parlimentary debate, and Amir Adibi got first in total speaker points for Novice Parlimentary.

March 29th
Nat Quals tournament. Dawn Maxey got 4th in Humerous Interp and 5th in Dramatic Interp. Brian Radzinsky got 6th in Extemp. Both of our debaters, RPrashant Rai and Navot Tidhar, got 1 win and 2 loses.

March 22nd
State Qual IE 2.. None of us made it to finals though Laurel Lathrop made it to semis in OO, Rupal Mehta and Brian Radzinsky both semied in Extemp, and Becky Liu semied in DI. Good job to all of them. Other competitors inclue Nick Enge and Ferris Jabr, Rose Wei, Urvashi Nagrani, and our Los Altos psuedo team members.

March 19th
Last prep meeting before IE State Qual 2. Sweatshirts were passed out and the people who were not there or did not pay, come to Urvi ASAP. Santa Clara sign ups were passed out, last time to sign up for that will be at next weeks meeting.

March 18th

Congrads to the competitors at the Congress State Quall tournament earlier today. Esspecially to
Noam Levy who got  2nd place and therefore Qualled for State.

March 14th
Whoohoo... Sweatshirts are here! (here being Urvi's house until next meeting) No, they're NOT just a myth we tell to make people give the club money. People who have not paid for their sweatshirts yet, WILL NOT get them, they will stay in the box and wait for you to pay.

March 12th
Normal Meeting and memorization deadline for State Qual 2.
State Qual tournament #1 went well.
Laurel Lathrop got 4th in OPP(Thus qualled for state) and 6th in OO. Jocelyn Chin got 6th in HI and Dawn Maxey got 8th in DI.

March 5th
Sweatshirt have been ordered, as soon as Century Graphics responds we're rolling! State Quals on Saturday... WHOOHOO Novicee Debate results.. Only competitor, Brian Radzinsky got 2 wins 1 loss.

March 1st

Novice Debate currently taking place. Results are...not in yet. Check back in a tad!

February 26th
Normal Team meeting. Please contact people to try and get coaches for the upcoming tournament. Also if you still need to, please bring sweatshirt money.

February 15th, 16th and 17th
At the Berkley Tournament, it rained... as always. Dawn Maxey took 3rd place in HI.  Prashant was a Double-octafinalist in L-D. Also, Laurel nearly broke in OO - it appears from the cumes that perhaps she would have except for a possible tabbing error.  And Dawn nearly broke in DI as well.

February8th and 9th
The Stanford Tournament was very fun and we all ... enjoyed... our rounds in hotel rooms and hallways. Four of our competitors semifinaled. Laurel Lathrop and Shruti Dave from Los Altos broke in Original Oratory. Rupal Mehta semied in Extemp, and Brian Radzinsky semied in SPAR.

February 6th
Congress Tournament at Notre Dame. Of our three competitors, two placed in their rooms. Noam Levy was first in his and Brian Radzinsky was 4th.

February 5th
If you have not turned in your yellow sheets, PLEASE do so. Also sweatshirt money and sizes still need to be given to Urvi. The Stanford tournament is this Saturday, and the congress tournament is tomorrow. Good luck to all

January 29th
Normal meeting with Stanford prep.

January 26th
We can't get the sweatshirts until we have all the sizes of people who want them and the money for them too. Please bring money ASAP, and if you need longer at least give Urvi the sizes so she can start the rest of the ordering process. Thanks

January 25th
Watsonville tournament... Team braved the long drive and finally arived to the middle of nowhere where we had our tournament.
DAWN IS GOD! Proof : 1st place in H.I. and1st place in D.I.
the only person to win 1st in two events at this tournament.
Other success include
Brian getting 4th in extemp, Noam broke to semi finals and Urvi breaking to semi finals in impromtu

January 22nd

Meeting . Does anyone even read this?
Sweatshirts are now being bought at century graphics and people should bring the $26 to Urvi asap if they want one.

MVLA Speech and Debate stumbled out of Benson..braved the pouring rain...fought the raging wind...and made it to their rounds at Santa Clara University. Mucho experience for all, and our very own
Ferris and Nick broke to semi-s with their awesome duo. Quimos Sabes anyone? (sp?)

December 8th

The novice debate tournament went well. We had the highest percent of winners per capita... 100% of our one competito
r, Prashant, was undefeated. And 100% of the ballots were filled out correctly by our one judge, Urvi.

December 4th

At the meeting we had lots of fun and did work an
d all that jazz... sweatshirt designs have been voted on.. whoohoo, they will be edited as needed before we finally turn in our order form and get them. The monthly parent news letter was passed out, for a copy e-mail somebody who has one and we'll see if we can get you one.

November 27th

Forum war is officially declared at the meeting. Two unnamed college students have instigated the warfare...the saga contuniues as James and Prashant (newbies) post.

Varstiy Debate at Mission San Jose. No one achieved a 4-0 record, but a good time was had by the two debators, Dawn and Navot. A discovery was made that Mission San Jose has the most confusing campus on the face of the planet. This was confirmed by other schools as well

IE Tournament "A" at Bellarmine.. Nobody on the team broke to semis, but we still had fun and enjoyed the competition.
