Rosters:
1) 25
players maximum per roster.
1A) You may
only carry 3 QB’s, kickers, or defenses.
2) The
moment you acquire a non-contracted
player, you are to assign him to a contract of 1-8 years. The default is
automatically one year.
3) Each
year, you get one exemption to restructure any one contract. When you extend
any player, you must retain the player for a full (consecutive weeks 1-17) NFL
season before trading him.
4) Each
year you get 1 bonus exemption, which may only be used to shorten or terminate
a QB contract. This is called the QB exemption.
5)
Exemptions may be used in trades.
6) Draft
picks may be used in trades.
7) You may
cut any player in the last year of his contract.
8) When you
trade a player, his contract goes with him.
9) Trading
and free agency ends at the week 11 transaction deadline. This means 10 minutes
before the week 11 Sunday kickoffs for FREE AGENTS. Since there are no trades
allowed on Sundays, the last trade can go through at midnight (Central time)
the Saturday night before the week 11 Sunday games.
9B) If a
trade is made, and an owner subsequently leaves the league, the new owner has
the option to reverse the deal or keep the rosters as they stand. This
primarily deals with trades made after a team falls out of playoff contention
or occurs near the trade deadline. Some exceptions could apply and the CC could
rule on those when (if) necessary.
10) No
off-season pickups may be made, only trades. Trades may be made after week 17
NFL games and the only times trades cannot be made are from week 11 (detailed
above) through week 17 of every NFL season.
12) 1 year
contracted players become zero year players at the end of the season. Zero
year, or FA, players may not be traded. The only things you can do are exempt
them; then you must keep them for a full season, or let them go into the draft.
13)
Whenever you sign a player to a contract, it is your responsibility to make
sure it is processed properly on the sportsline.com site. You have one week to
alert Jim of any error, or the posted contract stays with the following
exception.... if the transaction is posted on the message board, you have as
long as the message is active to use as proof. I clear the board every few
months.
Draft: 1)
Drafting is based on best to worst records.
The best team drafts 1st. It is also based on regular season record only.
The draft order is the same every round.
2) When a
team reaches 25 players, they lose their draft position, and all other teams
move up a spot.
Scheduling
and divisions:
1) Red
division MVP’s/Middle Earth Dragons/Ballhawks /Scorps/ Demolition
Blue division:
Hecklers/Cells/Thugs/Bandits/CIC
2) 22-game
regular season; 11 doubleheaders
3) 3 games
vs. each division opponent
4) Each
team will play non-division teams twice.
Playoffs:
1)Top 4
teams qualify. Weeks 12-14, 1 vs 4 and 2 vs 3 play two out of three to advance.
Weeks 15-17, winners play for the title, losers play for third place. If weeks
12 and 13 are sweep wins, the finals are weeks 14-16.
1a)
Division winners are 1st and 2nd seed automatically.
2)
Non-playoff teams participate in a round robin tourney, weeks 12-16(each team
plays each other once). In week 17 the top 2 round robin teams play for the
tourney title. If any teams are tied, total round robin points are used to
break a tie. Head to head is next. If more than 2 teams tie we just extend the tiebreaker
until 1 team is eliminated, and then re-break the new tie.
3) In any
tie game, the higher seed wins. In other words, the home field advantage is a
half point.
Round robin
tourney:
w 12: 1v2,
3v4, 5v6
w 13: 1v3,
2v6, 4v5
w 14: 1v6,
2v4, 5v3
w 15: 1v5,
2v3, 4v6
w 16: 1v4,
2v5, 3v6
w 17: 1st,
3rd, and 5th place games
Tiebreakers:
1) Head to
head record
2) Head to
head points
3) Total
season points.
4) Points
against for the season (highest total wins)
5) Highest
scoring week (repeat until tie is broken)
If 3 or
more teams are tied, we go through each step of the process until 1 team is
eliminated. Then we go back to step 1 with any remaining teams, until the ties
are all broken.
Lineups:
1) Lineups
must consist of 1 QB, 2 RB’s, 3 WR’s, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 Def
2)Lineups
must be programmed into
http://fantasy.sportsline.com at least 5 minutes before a player's game
starts. You may start a player for a Thursday game, then choose between your
Sunday players on Sunday, and Monday players on Monday.
3)The
website will keep players active until you change them
4)9 on 9
rule: Every game must be played 9 on 9, unless a team cannot fill a position
that day on his 25 man roster. If a team starts a lineup with less than 9
ACTIVE (on his NFL team) players, the following things happen: 1) The CC fixes
the lineup with the most logical alternative (this will be done as soon as the
erroneous lineup is found out, even if it is after the games start or finish) 1A)
Note: a 'logical alternative will be a) the starter the team used most often
during the current season b) the highest ppg player available on the roster c)
the player who averages the most touches per game at the position
4A) If the
team with the roster error gains a win(s), the wins will not be recognized for
playoff and draft positioning. The opponent will get the result of the games
with the adjusted lineup. (note: example- if a team has 2 kickers, 1 is hurt
and 1 is on a bye, then the team can play without a kicker. If a team has
obviously (in the CC’s estimation) neglected their team, the owner will be
removed from the league at the end of the year. If it's a one-time happening to
an owner in good standing, a simple explanation should suffice.
5) If a
roster is illegal, the team gets zero points for the week, though the 9 on 9
rule for opposing teams applies.
Scoring:
1) The
scoring will be taken from the fantasy.sportsline.com site automatically and in
real-time. If they falter, Jim will calculate scores. Box scores from
cbs.sportsline will be used first, but if they are not readily available,
NFL.com will be the second option, ESPN the 3rd. If there is an internet
problem, USA Today will be the first print source, with the Chicago Sun-Times
being the second.
2)Position
players: 1 pt per 10 yds rushing/rec; 1 pt per 25 yds. passing; 1 pt per
reception; 6 pts for TD (any way a player scores it: on offense, defense, or
special teams); 2 pts for 2 pt conv.
(run/pass/rec)
2A)
Kickers: Every point they score + 3 bonus points for a FG 50-59 yds.; 6 pts.
for 60 or over.
2B)
Defense: 1 pt. per sack; 2 pts per turnover and safety; 20 pts. for a shutout;
10 for 2-10 allowed; 5 for 11-17 allowed.
Defense
gets 6 pts for defensive/spec. teams TD's.
3)
Sportsline will determine all scoring for 'rare' and 'unusual' plays, such as
the Brad Johnson TD pass to himself, and a team on offense turning the ball
over and then forcing an additional turnover to retain the ball.
4) Return
yardage is never used for any player and/or defensive team.
Waivers/Free
Agency
All clock
times are based on Central (Chicago) time.
We use the
Sportsline waivers, which can go off anytime during the overnight of Tuesdays
or Wednesdays. It is recommended that you set your waivers on Tuesday before
11:00 P.M. Central.
Free agency
is a first come-first served system in which owners may claim players.
a) It is
open after the draft until 11:50 A.M. of opening day.
b)
Beginning week one and ending before the kickoff of week 11 games, it opens as
soon as Sportsline runs waivers, which most weeks is overnight Tuesday. and
closes 11:50 A.M. (though Sportsline commonly closes it @ 11:30 A.M. each
Sunday, in which case, you could post a claim and if you want to new player in
your lineup, you'd have to post that as well. Jim will adjust the lineup, as
soon as he sees the post, provided the post is time stamped consistently with
lineup-setting rules.
c) When you
drop a player(FREE AGENTS ONLY...NOT WAIVERS), you must first post the transaction
on the message board, then you can put it through the server. If it does not go
through, the commissioner can adjust it manually. NOTE: If this procedure is
not obeyed(posting free agent claims), the acquired player is placed on waivers
and the team that failed to post, cannot reclaim the player for 72 hours (if
the 72 hours run into a Sunday, the player must clear weekly waivers to be
available to the owner in question). This rule will be invoked any time another
owner spots it within a 7 day period.
NOTE: If
this happens during the week 11 final waiver period, (player is cut, say on the
Saturday before week 11 games)the team may not reclaim the player at all. So
that an owner does not abuse this rule to keep a player off of a competitor's
roster at the end of the week 11 deadline; any team not posting a free-agent
deadline player will be subject to CC ruling (punishment will be no more harsh
than losing a 3rd round pick the following year).
d) When you
drop a player, you may not put a claim on him for 72 hours. When a player is
cut on Saturday, the player cannot be reclaimed until he clears weekly waivers.
e) When you
want to pick up a player that someone else has dropped, he will go through
Sportsline waivers and be 'on hold' for one overnight (though they've been
known to hold for two overnights at times). The server runs this process, but
if a player has been on waivers for 3 overnights (Sunday/Monday excluded), let
Jim know, and he will contact Sportsline.
Fees:
1)$100 per
team + the Sportline site per team fee is the season entry fee, which must be
paid in July, on a date that Jim will send you via e-mail and will be posted on
our message board as well. If there is a hardship situation, I need to know at
least 1 week prior to the deadline.
2) There
are no other fees for transactions, at any time.
3) We will
have a playoff challenge each year, where owners may select any 17 players,
then field a starting lineup (same as the league’s but only 2 WR’s) each week.
The fee is $25, and winner takes all. This is optional. Money and first lineups
for this are due ten minutes before the first playoff game.
Payouts:
(This may be reviewed and changed by the competition committee as long as it is finalized before the draft.)
1) Payouts
will be sent after the season; and in no case later than 7 days after it’s
over. (same applies to playoff pool.)

Disputes/Questions:
1) If you
ever have a dispute regarding scoring or league rules, send a detailed email to
[email protected] AND then post a message WITHOUT your issue stating that the
CC needs to check the mailbox. This post can be private or public, your choice.
(We do not check the mailbox on a regular basis, due to the small amount of
messages we recieve.)
2) If there
is any rule, which you believe puts any team at an unfair advantage, e-mail the
competition committee, so they can consider changing it.
3) The CC
will grant almost unilateral autonomy in trades to owners, unless they think
that an owner may be leaving the league, having a fire-sale, or padding another
team. But, if you think a trade is unfair, you must petition the CC within 48
hours of the trade being posted. At that point, the CC may make their decision.
Again, owners will be allowed freedom to trade as they see fit..... the CC
would have to make a strong case for believing that an owner is either
purposely padding another team or having a fire-sale with his.
3 A) If a
trade is made and an owner subsequently leaves the league, the new owner has
the option to reverse the deal or keep the rosters as they stand.
Competition
Committee
1) The
purpose of the competition committee (CC) is to look out for the long-term
welfare of the league.
2) The CC
is made up of three owners selected by the commissioner.
3) The CC
may only be contacted for league business by using their e-mail address
[email protected] , they will also use this mailbox to send out all
correspondence and answer disputes. This is completely anonymous and league
owners are not to try to influence any member of the CC or personally solicit
them with an inquiry.
4) The CC will not reveal any details of their decision-making process or votes. They may, of course, repeat the final decision that was made, but not the outcome of their vote or nature of any internal dispute. All votes are assumed to be 3-0 with no disagreements.
