1.  PROBLEM:  What is  the activity, problem or topic?

  • Be sure to understand any Design constraints or specifications you must work with. List them here.

  • Record the goal you wish to accomplish.

2.   RESEARCH:  Find information on  the problem . Write your topic here.

  • Have your topic or idea OK'd by Mr. G.

  • Use books, internet or other sources to provide good research that will explain the problem to another person.

  • Research should be at least 4 paragraphs long.

3.   SOLUTIONS:

  • Brainstorm possible solutions, record your ideas here .

  • Draw Thumbnail sketches of ideas, at least 6 per team member.

4.  BEST SOLUTION:

  • Draw a rough sketch on graph paper. Accurately label parts showing a top and front view.

  • Explain how your design will solve the problem requirements, and accomplish your goal.

5.   PROTOTYPE:     A prototype is a working model of your design. Construct a prototype that will help to solve the problem.

  • Your prototype must be built from your rough sketch, record any design changes in section 6- Test & Modify.

Insert pictures of your prototype here:

6.   TEST & MODIFY: Test and modify  your solution.

  • Record how you tested the prototype.

  • List all your modifications from the original design.

  • Explain how it will meet the original design specifications.

7.  COMMUNICATE:

  • Make an engineering presentation that includes a discussion of how this solution best meets the needs of the initial problem.

  • Explain: the problem and specifications, your goal, how your design met your goal, how you tested the design, any modifications you made, and re-design recommendations.

  • Create PowerPoint, posters, web page.

8. REDESIGN:

  •  Overhaul the solution  (fix it up) based on information gathered during the tests and presentation.

  •  Explain what could have been done to make your solution work better.
