How long have you been breeding purebred dogs?
You want someone with experience , and who will be there when you need to call for help.

Are the Parents AKC registered?
This should be yes, because AKC has a way in which it keeps integrity to breeding, with proper paper work and DNA testing.

Do you sell puppies or breeding stock to puppy mills, puppy wholesalers, or retailers?
A good breed has list, and does not support such activities.

Do you sell Pet Quality puppies on non breeding agreements (not for breeding), and/or require a Spay/ Neuter Contract?
Most good breeders sell  pet pups on a non-breeding AKC Limited Registration. All good breeders sell pet  pups with a spay/neuter contract.

Does Bill of Sale/Contract identify puppy with litter number and registered name of Sire and Dam?
All good breeders need to do this not only for you , but to maintain  good AKC records.

At what age do you allow your puppies to leave your premises?
In NH this should be 8 weeks of age.

How many vaccinations will the puppy have before it leaves your premises?
In NH the pups should have the 1st set of shots, be wormed, and must have a  Current Veterinarian. Health certificate.

What is the average life span of dogs from your line?
This is good information for you to know.

Do you assist in finding a new home for puppies sold if they should become unwanted for any reason?
As mentioned earlier, a good breeder should be there down the road to assist you, and be there for a pup they have brought into this world.

Do  you stipulate in your Bill of Sale/Contract that you have first right of refusal. That the puppy/dog must come back to you should the purchaser not be able to keep it?
Again,  a good breeder should be long term, and care about the pup.

Is the  mother of the litter on the premisses,  will I be able to meet her?
There are people who buy a whole litter of pups just to re-sell them for more money, they don't know the history temperment etc...
This is not a good thing.

Do both parents have all the clearences appropriate for that breed, and can I see the paper work to prove this?
Every breed has some type of health issues. Certian test can be done to make sure the parents are clear of these problems and won't pass them down to offspring . It is very important to look into this.

Am I going to be able to see the living conditions of the pup and the entire litter?
They should show you were and how the pups live. There should be nothing to hide.)

Common sence...Use some common sence....If you don't like something they said, or something you saw or feel was hidden from you... think about it, this is the person who you are getting your next family member from, you need to feel comfortable with them , they are making the decisions of your pups future..
