Dear Prospective Member, The Merrimack Valley Kennel Club (MVKC), was founded in 1962 and is a member of the American Kennel Club, we are an organization of Pure Bred Dog fanciers interested in the promotion and protection of the Pure Breed Dog. We have members who breed, show, field trail, hunt, do therapy work, obedience, tracking, agility work, and those who just enjoy their Dogs as pets. Many of our members take their dogs to nursing homes, schools and hospitals for visits to make someone�s day a bit brighter. Many of the MVKC�s members have been involved with Pure Bred Dogs for many years and are always ready and willing to give information and guidance to newcomers. We publish a newsletter "the Hydrant" which contains interesting articles on raising, training and breeding Dogs, plus Approved articles from the membership, any updates from AKC, a Calender of up comming events, any canine legislation and �BRAGS� about member�s dogs who are winning in shows, obedience, agility and the field. Basically any dog related information our Editor can get her hands on. Person interested in joining the Merrimack Valley Kennel Club are welcomed to come to our meetings. Our Meeting site can change with each meeting. Please Check the club Web site www.MVKC.net the page called EVENTS for more information on meeting location, directions and topic. Meetings are usually held on the 2nd Wednesday of designated months at 7:00 pm. Each prospective member is required to attend at least 2 MVKC meetings and events with their sponsor. Each membership application is to be presented to the Club at next meeting after being received for consideration, in accordance with the Constitution and By-laws of the Club. You need to have 2 sponsors(already club members) sign the application. And you need to have already attended at least 2 club activities and meetings. Your application must be read at 2 membership meetings and 2 Boardmember Meetings for consideration. The application will then be voted on at the next meeting if approved by the board. If you write any members name on the application you need to ask them for an OK. These people need to be willing to go to bat for you, So please talk with them first. They will be asked about you from the Board so get to know them enough to make them comfortable. You can attend more club activities before filling out an application in order to get to know people first, if you need to, or wish to. This is actually highly recomended. The Merrimack Valley Kennel Club is a Working Membership Club. Each year the MVKC hosts more than a half dozen events. Without active members, these events could not take place. All members are asked to commit a minimum of 10 working hours to club related activities, events and projects. Please sign this letter and attach it to you application. | A Junior Membership was created for the purpose of admitting children to membership in the club. The ages are 8 to 17 years of age inclusive. Such membership is to be approved in the usual manner. A Junior member shall be accorded all the privileges of the club except that they shall have No Vote nor can they be nominated for election to office nor participate in the nomination of officers. In accordance with the Constitution and By-laws of the Club. The above letter applies to junior members and the working Hours. Junior members can make posters, copies etc... parents please allow them to be active club members.
