trucks.gif - 20.89 K Monkton arrives on scene with their 1000gpm FMC Pumper and 2000 gallon International tanker. A Ferrisburgh pumper assists.

That almost looks like a Starksboro Firefighter on that ladder. What's he doing? -- isn't this fire already self vented ??? ldr.gif - 21.60 K

fully.gif - 12.11 K A master stream is deployed. This device can apply in excess of 1000 gallons of water per minute for rapid knockdown.

Hey, wait a minute -- the fires not out and they are breaking things down. What gives? master stream.gif - 26.14 K

first response.gif - 18.62 K This was only a training fire. The un-occupied building was donated and deliberately burned, allowing firefighters to practice their firefighting skills.

Monkton has hosted several 'live fire' training exercises. Neighboring departments have been invited. tatro1.gif - 22.19 K

tatro2.gif - 19.38 K While it may be sad to some people to see these old buildings go, these exercises insure that the firefighters are capable in the event of an actual emergency.

Its tough work! Captain George Roy, Monkton, expresses relief to shed his protective gear and call it day. glad thats over.gif - 26.14 K

station.gif - 18.62 K But the work is not over yet. Equipment must be re-loaded on the truck, returned to the station, cleaned, repaired and readied for the next fire call.
