Why does Capcom keep on doing this?! They always have one or two characters that totally dominates everyone else in the game! Spiderman is tied with Wolverine as being the best and easiest character to use!! Using these two on the same team is basically assured victory! Spidey is fast, he's strong and he's hard to hit! He has some of the best combos in the game while his size and weight make it very hard to do combos on him! His supers cause massive damage but they are usually limited to countering missed moves and supers. He is definitely one of the favorites over at my arcade which sorta turned me off to using him! Now I spend all my time devising counter strategies against him with my other favorite underdog characters! He is a character for everybody! Beginners will have an easy time beating the computer with him and experts will dominate the versus matches!
Spidey's secret version! This was taken from a storyline in "Web of Spiderman" a long time ago! In that story, Spidey made a special webbing formula that he squirted on his suit that gave him better defense! In the case of Marvel vs. SF, having the armor protects him from Jab punches and Short kicks! It does not protect him from launchers or any other attacks like that though but the slight protection does a lot for his game! He's fast enough to counter combos that start with the weak attacks so I'd advise people who are fighting this character to skip Jab and Short! His supers suck though! They are the same as regular spidey but they take maybe a third of the damage! Don't rely on supers if you pick Silver Spidey! He's a better alternative to regular Spidey if you rely more on comboes and hand to hand fighting than on supers! Also, if Silver Spidey is hit by a super such as the Shinku Hadoken, I'm told that he will only lose as much damage as if he was hit by a regular Hadoken! This works for all supers! They just won't hurt him! There is a way to have two Spidermen on the same team and it's described in the tricks section! This is really cheap though cause you'll have the two very best characters in one team!
Web Ball

+P
This move is a very good projectile because if it hits an opponent that isn't blocking, they become stuck in a sort of cocoon during which they can't move and more importantly, they can't block! Depending on the strength of the punch button used, the opponent can be held for a quick or extended amount of time. Watch out when using the fierce version cause it takes forever to shoot! However, if it connects.....Maximum Spider is the only way to go! It can also be strung in as an air combo finisher but you can't continue hitting the opponent on the way down like you could in MSH.
Spider Sting

+P
Spidey's dragon punch move! Only instead of hitting only on the way up, he hits them up and then down! The second punch can be skipped if you don't press punch again after the initial hit! It comes out really fast and has very good recovery for a Dragon Punch kinda move so pull it off to surprise dashing opponents! It does good damage and the fact that you can control wether or not Spidey hits twice gives it a lot of versatility! It is the move involved in Spidey's infinite combo which I will reluctantly post in the combos section.....
Web Swing

+K
Spidey shoots out a webline and then swings towards his opponents, feet first! This move takes off an excellent amount of damage and opponents rarely expect it! It also OTG's and can be put in as an air combo finisher! Watch the recovery time though cause Spidey is way open if this move is dodged or blocked! Also, if this is done in the air, he connot block until he lands! It can be used to escape supers if you're already in the air though!
Web Throw

+P
Spidey shoots out a webline to his opponent and if it hits, he grabs the end and swings them around his head for a while before letting them go! This is his single most powerful special move! However, it leaves him really open if he misses! The jab punch shoots straight forward, the medium punch shoots diagonally upwards and the fierce punch shoots straight up! I noticed that if you move the controller in a circle and ram on the buttons, Spidey swings them around a few more times before letting go! I think it does more damage but I'm not sure. This is my favorite move and even though it should be used sparingly, I shoot these out left and right! I don't care....it looks cool and always gives me a good laugh!
Maximum Spider

+2P(Level One)
This move has been improved since it's first appearance in MSH! Spidey jumps to the wall behind him and then launches himself at his opponent, bouncing them around the screen five times! It takes off a lot of damage! Around a third of an opponents life bar can disappear because of this move! While Spidey's up on the wall, aim the controller in the direction of your opponent! It has very high priority and it will usually win out if put against any other special or super move! A fierce web ball in the air sets this move up perfectly! However, fast opponents can dash in and counter if this move is blocked and it does no chipping damage so don't just pull it out of nowhere!
Crawler Assault

+2K(Level One)
Spidey rears back for a second and then does a funky looking combos across the screen! It's sort of like Wolverine's Berserker Barrage X only not quite as effective. I've found that the delay time on this move only makes it effective against missed supers, chipping damage or OTGing! It has very long range and will catch a missed dragon punch from across the screen! The good news is that unlike the Maximum Spider, this move can be comboed! It is very good at chipping life because it takes off good block damage! It also tends to knock people out of the air cause of the funky way that Spidey moves!
Web Swing MP+MK
This move isn't really that great as a team up attack because it takes him forever to hit! It also leaves Spidey very open to counter attack if he doesn't hit the opponent at all! I'd avoid pulling this off very often.
Spider Sting

HP+HK
This is an ideal counter for up close attacks! Just don't try to counter any beam supers with this cause both your guys will get trashed!
Crawler Assault

HP+HK(Level Two)
This is a good team super because it comes out very fast and it chips good damage! Having Spidey start the team super is usually a good idea because he comes out so fast and he has a lot of range! It even hits jumping opponents who are blocking!
His projectile isn't very effective so he's at a disadvantage against the fireballers of the game like Ryu and Cyclops! Jump and super jump a lot against those guys! Do anything you can to get close so that you can dish out that bad ass 11 hit combo with the air web swing as a finisher! I personally hate falling into that one cause it just looks like it hurts so much!
Another big problem for Spidey are the characters with really good air defense moves like Chun-Li, Shuma, Hulk and the Shotokaners! Against these guys, I'd only jump in with the Roundhouse as opposed to the three hit combo that he can normally do while jumping in. The Roundhouse has very good range and will at least trade hits with the best air defenders!
Another big problem for ol Peter Parker is Mega Zangief cause nothing he does can really hurt the big Russian Zombie! His combos can all be interrupted and the Maximum Spider doesn't work against him! Web Balls are the only way to go against him...but this will take forever! Just switch out....it's the easier alternative!
A good philosophy to follow with Spidey is to stick to his combos! They are his best friends and most effective weapons! Learn them and you will be invincible!

Groan....they kept Spidey's infinite combo in? What for?!?! He's too good already! I plead to all you Spidey players out there not to use this combo! It's just darn cheap and frankly, I just hate infinites! Figure this out by yourself...I ain't helpin!
8) J.Jab, J.Strong, J.Fierce \/ D.C.Short, C.Forward, S.Roundhouse --> Fierce-Spider Sting(one hit), C.Short(OTG), S.Roundhouse /\ SJ.Jab, SJ.Short, SJ.Strong, SJ.Forward, SJ.Fierce, SJ.Roundhouse
This is the biggest combo that Spidey can pull of in the game as far as I can tell! It's about sixteen hits but it will be less for smaller opponents. Delay for half a second before you hit the SJ.Fierce so that you can get the SJ.Roundhouse to connect as well! Thanx to Banshee for giving me this combo!
Theoretical Combos
1) With your back to the corner: D.C.Short, C.Forward, S.Roundhouse /\ SJ.Jab, SJ.Strong --> Maximum Spider
This is very tough to pull off and I've been told that the Maximum Spider will not connect but it's still worth a try ain't it? Just cancel the SJ.Strong immediately with the Maximum Spider and point Spidey downwards!
2) D.S.Jab, S.Strong --> Jab-Spider Sting(one hit) /\ J.Jab, J.Strong --> Strong-Web Ball \/ S.Strong /\ SJ.Jab, SJ.Short, SJ.Strong, SJ.Forward --> AC Finisher
Hmmm....this seems possible! You have to jump as soon as you land from the spider sting and hit them right away with the two hits leading up to the web ball! You'll then land at the same time as your opponent, launch them again and air combo! Simple!
